PARKING PROBLEMS

WHY REMOVE GARDENS?

SOUND ARGUMENT.

The City Council proposal to remove one of the centre garden plots in Abbott Street to cope with present parking problems, was deplored by Mr. H. K. N. MacDonnell, speaking at yesterday's meeting of the Cairns Chamber of Commerce. The city, with its two chain wide streets lent itself admirably to beautification, and Mr. MacDonnell considered that the removal of established street gardens was quite unnecessary.
