Background

Established in 1879, the North Gregory Hotel – the Queen of the Outback – has an impressive history. The first public performance of Waltzing Matilda was here on April 6 1895, while clandestine 1920s meetings saw the launch of a little airline named QANTAS… Lyndon Johnson stayed here, when forced to ditch his plane during World War II, and the dining room features original etchings by acclaimed artist Daphne Mayo.

This deco darling is in its fourth incarnation, heritage steeped in her bones, and while the Queen has a past to be proud of, she has a very clear plan for the future… Leading the the pack in contemporary outback accommodation and entertainment, paddock-to-plate cuisine and remote area food provenance, the famous North Gregory Hotel is a stylish solution for the ultimate outback experience, a place to stay that embodies the past from the comfort of the now.
