New Settlers Welcomed at Migrant Hostel

The migrant hostel, which was officially opened on Saturday afternoon, recevied its first party of British migrants yesterday, when 13 families arrived by mail train from Brisbane - 26 adults and 34 children.

After the completion of formalities the migrants were taken to the hostel, where afternoon tea was provided.

A welcome was extended by Mr. Longland, who assured the migrants that they would find friends in Rockhampton. They too, would find many opportunities. It would be necessary for all to work in a spirit of cooperation. If they did this everything would work out to their complete satisfaction.
